Athabasca Glacier, Alberta, 1989
We drove From Calgary in a rental car.
Nearly all the pictures here are of the Athabasca Glacier, located in the Canadian Rockies
between Jasper and Banff National Parks. I hope to add photos of Jasper National
Park in the future.
There is strong evidence of global warming here. The Canadians have set up markers
pinpointing the edge of the glacier every few years. I have marked pictures related to global
warming evidence with an asterisk. The glacier has also shrunk in depth considerably.
Enjoy the scenery. File sizes are around 100kb or 30 seconds on dial-up service.
As with other material on our web pages, these photos will be left up a very long time,
so take your time and come back.

I have a 1940s view of the glacier for comparison. Please write me to see this.
All of my World Book science annuals from 1983 to about 2007 except one have
extensive detailed articles on global warming. It's a travesty that climate deniers
were re-elected to the U.S. Senate in November 2020. Please vote them
out in 2022.
A 2005 photo of the glacier is at www.flickr.com/photos/hughrocks/35342787/ .
