Alfred used a Kodak Bantam camera, probably an f/4.5 model, in the late 1930s
and early 1940s. He took quite a few photos during those years. Bantams
used size 828 film, which was really 35mm film without the sprocket holes.
This film had a paper backing, like the larger roll film sizes, and had only
8 exposures per roll.
Other films that had variations similar to this were 120 and 620 film which
were the same 60mm width but had different spools; and Pocket Instamatic
film which was 16mm film with different perforations than movie film and
spooled in a cartridge. Also, I believe that standard Instamatic film was
35mm in size, and spooled in a cartridge also.
